More than just a practical mending method, Sashiko transforms worn fabric into something both stronger and more beautiful, extending the life of garments that might otherwise be discarded. It embraces the philosophy of repairing rather than replacing, encouraging a slower, more thoughtful approach to caring for the clothes we love. No prior sewing experience is necessary, just bring a denim garment if you'd like to mend one, or simply come ready to learn. You'll leave with new skills, a deeper appreciation for this enduring textile tradition, and the confidence to continue repairing and embellishing your clothing long after the workshop ends. Ages 16+ BIO: Amanda Farrell is a modern hand embroidery artist whose simple, clean lines create expressive works of art. She explores deeply personal themes that celebrate her family and Filipino heritage, using salvaged, upcycled, and vintage fabric, fiber and notions when possible. Amanda has shown her work in galleries and commercial businesses, and she has been featured in blogs and magazines like Apartment Therapy, Kollective Hustle, and Martha Stewart Weddings. She teaches embroidery primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, but has also taught workshops in New York City and internationally.
