more about this class
Join Amanne Sharif from Min Amanne Tatreeez Designs for an immersive beginners' journey into the world of tatreez, the traditional Palestinian art of embroidery. This class is perfect for those new to tatreez, offering a well-rounded introduction to its deep-rooted history from pre-1948 to the present. Amanne will guide participants through the cultural significance and evolution of tatreez motifs, sharing insights into how these beautiful, intricate patterns tell stories across generations. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn the fallahi stitch, commonly known as the cross stitch—a fundamental stitch used in Palestinian tatreez. Amanne will also cover essential tatreez strategies, providing tips on technique and design that can elevate your tatreez journey from the start. Each attendee will receive a Tatreez Beginner Kit that includes all the materials needed to participate in the class. BIO: Amanne Sharif is a Palestinian Tatreez artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, deeply inspired by her heritage and family’s legacy. Guided by the stories of her maternal grandmother, a refugee displaced from Al-Qubab village in the Ramleh region of Palestine in 1948, Amanne’s art is a testament to resilience, identity, and cultural pride. Though her grandparents resettled in Brazil, they preserved their Palestinian identity, instilling in Amanne a deep love for her heritage and a commitment to keeping Palestinian traditions alive.
