If folks want to print on fabric, feel free to bring your own. I will have some scrap fabric on hand for practice & demos. Each participant will also receive a paper kit they can use & keep. Morning session: This workshop starts at the beginning by getting comfortable with what the gel plate can do. The time in the morning session is process focused to learn how to print well by making simple abstract marks. We will create quick, no pressure mono prints on all kinds of papers using simple marks and symbols. Afternoon Session: In the afternoon, we will focus on more complex layering techniques using stencils of all kinds to add depth to your work. We will explore making our own stencils, creating multi-layer mono prints, and thinking about more complex compositions. I’ll bring a bunch of commercial stencils and supplies for us to make our own stencils as well. You can also branch out into different materials to print on as well in the afternoon.
