A Color Study with Ana Bianchi

May 16th Saturday 1:00 - 4:00

more about this class

We all have a favorite color, or a new one we simply cannot stop thinking about! Inspired by the color exercises of Josef Albers and drawing from her own book Color Curious by Ana Bianchi, Ana brings her personal approach to help you discover surprising and expressive new color combinations centered around the color you love most. In the first part of class we will prepare our colors, then observe and analyze a range of combinations built around your favorite. In the second part we will use those newfound combinations to create a series of simple art pieces — resulting in a beautiful mini gallery where your favorite color serves as the throughline, or leitmotif. Finished pieces can be created in watercolor or gouache, or made from painted paper cutouts. Ana, an experienced watercolor and gouache artist, will share her tips and tricks for creating color-rich work on paper and collage throughout the session.
