Still Life Painting Bridget Watson Payne

July 27th Sunday 12:00 - 3:00

more about this class

Learn to turn everyday objects into vibrant works of art. In this playful and accessible workshop, self-taught artist and author Bridget Watson Payne shares her personal approach to drawing and painting the world around us using water-based paints and markers. No prior drawing or painting experience is necessary—this class is designed to be inspiring and fun for all skill levels. You’re encouraged to bring a few small objects from home to use as your subject matter. These can be anything: a favorite book, something from your pantry, a keepsake, your keys—whatever catches your eye or holds meaning for you. If you happen to have fine-point permanent markers or gel pens, feel free to bring those too. Materials fee: $25 (covers paper, paint, brushes, and pens) — payable in cash or via Venmo to the instructor at class. BIO: Bridget Watson Payne is an editor, writer, and artist. She works with publishers, authors, and artists as a freelance editor and creative consultant to bring book ideas and projects to life. She is the author of eight books, most recently The Wonder of Colors. She has taught on CreativeLive, spoken at Alt Summit, Craftcation, and Creative Mornings, juried for the Society of Illustrators, and been featured on KTVU Mornings on 2, the Lisa Congdon Sessions, Cup of Jo, and Shondaland, among others. Bridget’s original artwork has appeared in a number of art shows, most recently at Park Life in San Francisco, and is available for sale at the shop Post.Script. She writes a popular newsletter and is hard at work on her next book. She lives in San Francisco with her family.
