more about this class
Between Lines and Washes: A Self-Portrait Study This workshop will explore self-portraiture using water-based media like acrylic ink. Rather than focusing on perfect likeness, we’ll experiment with value, distortion, and storytelling to uncover new ways of seeing ourselves. Through guided exercises, participants will explore techniques that bring personality and emotion into their work, embracing the fluid and expressive nature of water media. There is no materials fee for this class and your encouraged to bring your own materials: drawing paper, watercolor paper, any acrylic-based ink, round brushes (small and medium), pencil, eraser. BIO: Yina Kim is a San Francisco-based visual storyteller who works across multiple mediums. She creates illustrations and comics and teaches illustration at California College of the Arts. Currently, she focuses on micro-publications, including zine making and risograph printing.
