Drawing from her lifelong love of handcrafted design, Sonya will guide you through the process of creating a simple yet beautiful garment – perfect for beginners and seasoned sewists alike. In this class, you'll learn how to cut pattern pieces, finish seams, and craft your own bias tape to finish the neckline. With just four seams and a hem, this uncomplicated project is an ideal introduction to sewing your own wardrobe. Learn to sew your own clothes, starting with this uncomplicated garment - just four seams and a hem. The neck is finished with a bias tape facing. Students will learn how to cut pattern pieces, finish seams and make their own bias tape. BIO: Sonya Philip has always been drawn to making things, inspired by her architect father and designer mother. Raised in a family that valued craftsmanship, she developed a deep appreciation for handmade work. Sonya studied drawing and printmaking before earning an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. A self-taught artist, she embraces the freedom to explore and blend mediums, focusing on what she calls ‘conceptual craft.’ Sonya lives in San Francisco with her husband and three children. When scheduling classes, please note that workshops will be automatically canceled if enrollment is four participants or fewer. If this occurs, your credit will be applied to the next available workshop of the same name. If no future session is scheduled, a full refund will be issued. Also, you can cancel your class up to 7 days prior to the scheduled date. In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a credit toward your next booking. Please be aware that we do not offer refunds.
