Macrame Wall Hanger Kenyatta Forbes
February 16th 12:00 - 2:30 Sunday
more about this class
Join Kenyatta Forbes of Urban Macrame Fibers for an immersive macrame wall hanger workshop where you’ll learn the art of fiber knotting to create your own unique wall piece. In this class, Kenyatta will guide you through traditional macrame techniques, offering hands-on instruction in knotting and pattern creation. Whether you are new to fiber art or have prior experience, this workshop will provide space for creative expression. @urbanmacramefibers Kenyatta's approach emphasizes the process over the final outcome, encouraging participants to explore the materials and allow their piece to evolve naturally. You’ll leave the workshop with a beautifully handcrafted 36” plant hanger, along with the skills and inspiration to continue your macrame journey. Materials: All basic materials will be provided including cotton rope, wooden anchor ring, and an assortment of beads. Feel free to bring any personal fibers or embellishments if you'd like to incorporate your own touch. There will be a $30 materials fee payable to the instructor on the day of the class. Note from Kenyatta: Workshops are about more than just learning a craft—they’re about building community and creating a creative space. As we knot and weave, we’ll be making space for inspiration and togetherness. I can’t wait to share this experience with you. BIO: Kenyatta Forbes is a multi-disciplinary artist who explores the world through fiber. Combining traditional hand techniques like macrame, weaving, knotting, and leather making, she crafts narratives through her work. Kenyatta views workshops as spaces for creation, reflection, and community building, focusing more on the process of making than the final piece. She believes in the therapeutic and meditative qualities of fiber arts and brings this philosophy to each class she leads.
