more about this class

Herbal Toolkits for Resilience To be deeply planted is to have well-established roots—roots that connect us to ancestral knowledge, community, place, and the nourishing practices that sustain us. When we are nourished, we cultivate resilience. And resilience allows us to thrive in the face of adversity. Plants embody resilience. When exposed to stress, they grow stronger. They adapt to harsh conditions by developing protective compounds. They evolve while remaining true to their essence. They forge relationships of mutual support with the living world around them. What can we learn from these green teachers—our Plantcestors—about resilience? In this three-hour workshop, set just two days after the Spring Equinox, we will gather with a council of local Plantcestors at their peak expression in the Bay Area’s springtime. Among them: California Poppy, California Wild Rose, Purple Sage, Dandelion, Nettle, Plantain, Yarrow, Mullein, Mugwort, Redwood, Bay Laurel, Rosemary, and Sea Palm. There is a $15 materials fee, payable directly to the instructor on the day of the class. This fee covers a curated selection of ingredients for crafting your own Resilience Toolkit. Included in this experience: A guided meditation featuring freshly harvested local plant allies, hands-on creation time where each participant will craft their own Resilience Toolkit. This includes protection sprays, immune tonics, self-love elixirs, and a custom-blended pouch of dried and fresh herbs. BIO: Hannah Pearl Walcott is an interdisciplinary artist, herbalist and mother. She originally hails from New York, and is presently living in Richmond, CA. Her work integrates the practices of plant medicine and visual art. She is currently seeing clients throughout the Bay Area for individual “Well-Being” consultations, making plant medicine, teaching herbal workshops, and creating an ongoing series of multi-media collage pieces depicting divine feminine representations of plant life.
