October 13th - November 17th Tuesdays 6:00 -8:00 pm

more about this class

Facilitated by Ashlin Randolph. This six-week series welcomes individuals interested in exploring writing, memory, identity, and artistic expression in community. Whether you write regularly or are simply looking to incorporate and learn more about exploring a creative writing practice, everyone is invited. This is not a traditional instructor-led writing class, but rather a facilitated creative space centered on practice, exploration, community, and connection. Guided writing and reflection will form the foundation of the cohort as participants explore three complementary creative mediums: collage, watercolor, and zine-making. Each medium will be explored over two weeks, giving participants space to experiment and discover new ways to express their stories through words and images. The cohort offers a supportive, low-pressure environment where participants can create, reflect, and share when comfortable. No previous writing or art experience is required. Weeks 1–2 | Collage: Memory & Identity Week 1 — Memory & Creative Expression Using guided writing and found imagery to explore personal memory, lived experience, and the stories we carry. Week 2 — Identity & Visual Storytelling Exploring identity and voice through writing, image, text, layering, and collage. Weeks 3–4 | Watercolor: Emotion & Inner Landscapes Week 3 — Voice, Color & Expression Exploring how writing, color, shape, and abstraction can communicate mood, memory, and voice. Week 4 — Emotion & Inner Landscapes Using reflective writing and watercolor to translate feelings, experiences, and internal landscapes into visual form. Weeks 5–6 | Zine-Making: Story & Connection Week 5 — Story, Community & Belonging Participants will revisit writing and artwork from previous weeks, identifying recurring words, memories, images, and themes as inspiration for a personal mini-zine. Week 6 — Integration & Creative Reflection Participants will bring writing, collage, and watercolor together into a completed zine reflecting their creative journey. The series will close with reflection and optional community sharing. Zines may incorporate original writing, poetry, handwritten text, collage, watercolor, found imagery, and work created throughout the cohort.
