Branch tapestry weaving with Kaci Smith
October 13th 12:00 - 2:30 Sunday
more about this class
Kaci will teach a lesson on how to turn an ordinary branch into a loom for tapestry weaving. No prior weaving experience required. During this two hour class, she will lead us on the basic steps of setting up the warp, starting your weaving, how to transition from one color to another, as well as finishing techniques. Everything you need to know to complete the project on your own, and keep making more. Warning: you may become addicted to branch weaving! BYOB (Bring your own branch). Note from Kaci: I do feel that it's an integral part of the process to get into nature and find a special branch. Here is a LINK to a video where I show what to look for in branch selection. I will also have backup branches in case anyone brings something that will be too difficult to work with. There is a 20.00 supply fee, paid directly to instructor, for this class which includes: Instruction Guidelines tapestry needle warp thread weft thread thread clippers BIO: BFA in Textile Design from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, and has worked professionally as a hand-weaver of rugs and upholstery fabrics. Although currently making two-dimensional mixed media artwork, Kaci's life-long passion for pattern, color and fabric is the endless well of inspiration in her work. https://www.instagram.com/p/CxV3dHHxUBL/?hl=en
