Join Jasmine Narkita Wiley for a basket weaving workshop at Mighty Mighty Studio. Participants will be introduced to a basic weaving technique and learn how to start and finish a simple wicker basket. Through habitual, rhythmic movements of the materials, students will form a sculptural object unique to their own hands. Participants will be encouraged to slow down and engage their hands through a craft tradition practiced by our earliest ancestors, leaving with an artifact of the time spent together. This one-day workshop is open to anyone interested in disconnecting from modern technology and working with their hands in a communal setting. All materials are provided. BIO: Jasmine Narkita Wiley is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator. Her exhibitions include presentations at SOMArts, ICA San Francisco, MCA Denver, and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, among others. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, College Art Association's Art Journal Open, Surface Design Journal, and Rewind Review Respond. Wiley holds an MA in Arts Politics from the Department of Art & Public Policy, NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA from the California College of the Arts.
